With the reform of education system,the mode of English language teaching in class is rapidly transforming from the teacher-centered intellectual teaching mode to the student-centered comprehensive application mode.As a productive skill,English writing is not only an output mode of students' comprehensive application abilities but one of the crucial assessment components of language.NMET also puts forward high requests in English writing.Besides,communicating through writing is of great significance for any language.At the same time,English writing has always been a hard issue.Nowadays,it is apparent that the current situation of English writing in senior high is not optimistic,both in teaching and learning.In many ELT classrooms,traditional approach is widely adopted and a good deal of attention was placed on “model” compositions,and the process which the students go through while doing the writing task is virtually ignored.In reality,students may have some ideas before they start to write.To accomplish a good writing,students must go through a successive process,including pre-writing,drafting,editing,revising,proofreading and conferencing.Consequently,it is necessary to select an efficient method in writing teaching.In search of an effective method in teaching writing,the author selects two parallel classes in Grade 2 from Liaozhong First Private High School as the research subjects.This research starts from the first day of September in 2016 to the fifth day of January in 2017..Class One is selected as the EC and Class Two is selected as the CC at random.There are50 and 48 members in each class respectively.In the writing instruction class,process approach is adopted in EC,while CC still employs the traditional approach.EC and CC are taught by the same English teacher and use the same textbooks and workbooks(Senior English Student's Book 5 and 6 Published by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press).And other backgrounds are all similar in every respect.In order to guarantee the objectivity of the experiment,the students in the trial would not be given any information about this.In this study,these instruments will be employed: questionnaire,test,interview,SPSS.Each lesson in EC will be instructed in accordance with the stages of process approach strictly.The collected data will be analyzed by SPSS 19.0.The research questions are as follows:1.Can process approach improve students' interest in writing?2.Can process approach have a positive influence on students' writing strategy?3.Can process approach improve students' writing proficiency?Based on the data collected from this experiment,the author comes to the conclusion that process approach is an effective method in English writing teaching.It can not only help improve students' interest,but their writing proficiency.More importantly,students' writing strategies get developed through process approach.Therefore,this approach is expected to be carried forward to eliminate existing problems in current teaching situation.It may be not only beneficial to the students learning process but also beneficial to the teaching research.
