Regarded as an international language,English has an irreplaceable position in the second language learning.English vocabulary as a cornerstone of the edifice is the most basic content of language learning,and it is also an indispensable part of language learning.However,the traditional teaching mode pays less attention to the importance of language input for language acquisition,and it is the reason that vocabulary learning gets into trouble.Krashen's input hypothesis elaborates the importance of comprehensible input for language acquisition.This study emarks from the input theory,and teaching vocabulary under the instruction of comprehensible input hypothesis to improve the efficiency of vocabulary learning.This study aims to address the following two questions:1.Is it beneficial to cultivate students' strategies in vocabulary learning when applying the teaching based on the Krashen's input hypothesis ?2.Is it conductive to improve students' vocabulary proficiency when applying the teaching based on the Krashen's input hypothesis ?It is an empirical study,and these two problems are solved by using qualitative and quantitative methods.The ninety-two participants are Datun Junior Middle School students in Beizhen,Grade Eight.Forty-six students in class one are regarded as the experimental class,and the other forty-six students in class two are regarded as the control class.The author completes the experimental research through questionnaires,pre-test and post-test,interview,data analysis,and the experimental period lasts for four months.The control class adopts the traditional teaching methods,and the experimental class is teaching under the guidance of the four principles of Krashen's input hypothesis.The results of the study show us that after the experiment,the students in the experimental class have more understanding about the vocabulary learning strategies compared with the control class,and they have already used some vocabulary learning strategies for vocabulary learning.At the same time,in the vocabulary competence test,the average scores of the experimental class is higher than that of the control class,and they have higher ability to deal with new words.These results illustrate that vocabulary teaching based on Krashen's input hypothesis is not only helpful to cultivate students' vocabulary learning strategies,but also to improve students' vocabulary proficiency,and these results also offer some references for future study of vocabulary teaching.At the same time,this study still has some shortcomings,it is only from the angel of fourprinciples of the input hypothesis to do comparison in vocabulary strategies,but there is no deeper explanations in other aspects.Therefore,the author hopes that there will be more experts and scholars are devoted in more comprehensive and deeper research in the future.
