The rise of STEM education in the world and the promulgation of the new generation of K-12 science education standards has redefine the reforms in the field of science education.Two events have led science education to a new direction.Through analysis,it can be found that science education attempts to create more hands-on opportunities for students to understand the scientific concept in the application.Under this environment,China has promulgated "The primary science curriculum standards" and increased the content of technology and engineering in science course.But considering the fact that front-line teachers lack of experience in engineering teaching,and usually they rely too much on the textbooks.Expecting the studies on new cases can give teachers more ideas for the practice of scientific and engineering teaching."Science and engineering integration in our primary school classroom" is the subject of the study.Combined with French case project framework and excellent foreign science education activities,author analysis China's curriculum standards,teaching materials and foreign excellent cases,then re-design the curriculum structure,content and classroom organization.The author expects the case can achieve the integration of science and engineering practice.The study mainly presents two cases of science and engineering practice,namely "heat transfer","plant stem and leaf'."Heat Transfer" discusses global warming.Students need to build a heat-resistant house for penguins.This case is divided into scientific activities and engineering activities.In the scientific activities,students understand the concept of heat transfer,heat convection,material insulation performance,and how to effectively block the heat radiation etc.In the engineering activities,students solve the problem "Build an insulated houses for the penguins".Through the process of engineering design,students understand the insulation properties of different materials,various restrictions of the engineering practice,and the application of scientific knowledge.Finally,students deepen the understanding of concepts.Similar to the case of "Heat Transfer","The stems and leaves of plants" contains themes like "Where the water flows through the plant?" "How does red water flow past the stem?""What is the role of leaf?" "Build the plant model".Those themes help students understand the plant structure and the internal operation function of the plant.We hope students can form the overall understanding of plants.And through the construction of plant system model,students can deepen their understanding.Research is not limited to case design,but also hope to provide some enlightening advice to frontline teachers.Through the analysis and summary of the excellent science education cases and the design in this paper,the author gives three suggestions on the integration of science and engineering in the elementary school science classroom:1,In order to promote the integration of science and engineering in primary school science classroom,case selection should be based on the curriculum standard's scientific concepts;2,Add the engineering practice to science-based activities,and promote the integration of science and engineering;3,Apply the full process of engineering design in engineering practice;4,Localize the teaching media and make them close to life.The integration of science and engineering is in line with the concept of today's fusion,and it helps students think and view the problem in a holistic way.Through the theory and practice of this paper,author provided more ideas for teachers engaged in the practices of the integration of science and engineering practice in the classroom.
