With the booming globalization of the world economy,the importance of English,especially oral English is becoming increasingly prominent.Oral English teaching and the cultivation of spoken English ability have attracted more and more attention.The National English Curriculum of High School(2011)explicitly points out that the ultimate goal of English teaching is to help the students learn how to use the language correctly in communication.However,researches show that the current achievement in the area is not meeting the requirements in the curriculum.Therefore,how to cultivate students' oral English ability and improve the oral English teaching in high schools has become a topic worth studying.For the purpose of promoting high school students' oral proficiency,specific and workable teaching methods should be found.Researchers at home and abroad have devoted themselves to finding new approaches towards oral English teaching.Write-to-Speak Method has attracted much attention in the past decade.The method aims to facilitate and exploit the connection between the skills of speaking and writing as well as the impact of writing on speaking,so as to enhance students' speaking competence and cultivate students' confidence and interest in spoken English.The research questions of the study are as follows:(1)What is the current condition of high school oral English teaching?(2)How to develop specific and workable pedagogical designs of Write-to-Speak Method at high school level?(3)In what aspects and to what extent can the implementation of Write-to-Speak Method promote high school oral English teaching and learning?This paper mainly adopts the methods of interviews,tests,questionnaires,and classroom observation.From all the information collected and analyzed,the following conclusions can be drawn: 1)The current oral English teaching hasn't met the expectations of the majority of teachers and students in high school,which is caused by the factors such as the environment,teachers and students.2)Write-to-Speak Method can greatly enhance students' oral English proficiency especially in the aspect of fluency.3)can promote students' confidence and interest in spoken English.4)The teaching method might be helpful for oral English teaching in the sense of its efficiency and effectiveness.
