Vocabulary learning is considered as the most important part in English learning.The study of vocabulary learning strategies has been paid much more attention by the cognitive linguists and psycholinguists in recent years.Nevertheless,in those studies of the correlation between the student's cognitive style differences and vocabulary learning,few of them study the correlation between the impulsive students and the reflective students and the vocabulary memory correctness.Therefore,this study focuses on studying the effect of different cognitive styles(impulsive style and reflective style)on vocabulary memory correctness.This thesis aims to find out the differences in vocabulary memory correctness and analyzes the correlation between impulsive students and reflective students and vocabulary memory correctness.Therefore,this study provides some beneficial suggestions for the English teaching.The 150 participants were from four classes in Dige Junior High School who are in Grade Seven.First of all,the students' cognitive styles were separated by the cognitive style questionnaire;and what is more,a vocabulary paper test was carried out;at last,according to the collected data were analyzed.In this study,the following results were obtained:(1)there is a weak correlation between the correctness of memorizing the vocabulary and the students' different cognitive styles,and there is a difference in the vocabulary test between the reflective students and the impulsive students;to be specific,there is a tendency that the reflective students would behave better than the impulsive students.In addition,the blending learners who have the characteristics of both reflectivity and impulsivity got the highest score.(2)As for memorizing vocabulary correctness,there is almost no difference between the girls and the boys in the impulsive students and blending students;while for the reflective students,the girls behave better than the boys.This study provides some important implications in English teaching.First and foremost,in order to realize the maximization of foreign language teaching and get better achievements,the teachers should recognize the student's different cognitive styles and select the proper teaching method to teach the students;what's more,the teachers shouldadopt an appropriate way to deal with the relationship between the accuracy and fluency;last but not least,the teachers have the responsibility to help the students clearly know the advantages and disadvantages of their cognitive styles,which can make the reflective students and impulsive students behave better in the correctness of memorizing vocabulary according to their own characteristics.
