Learning vocabulary is a fundamental part for the English learners. How many words the students master directly determines their capability of listening, reading, writing, speaking and other relevant language skills. For the English learners, how to enlarge their vocabulary efficiently and how to employ the words probably are main problems which need solve urgently, especially for the students whose mother tongues is not English. They always consume a large amount of time to memory the new words, however, in the specific context, they fail to make use of the appropriate form of the words, which is called getting the half result with the twice effort. Because of that, it is significant to analyze how to improve the efficiency of memorizing and employing the vocabulary and how to develop students'ability of spelling the correct words in the specific context.There are many factors which influence the students'ability to memorize the new words, and in this paper, the awareness of the parts of speech is the focus of attention. The relation between the awareness of the parts of speech and the ability of spelling is analyzed, in order to get whether the former one determines or influences the latter one. This paper mainly consists of the following steps:Firstly, Summarize and clarify the relevant researches which are made in the past, basing on the Error Analysis Theory, and according to the New Curriculum Standard;Secondly, the thesis employs the quantitative study. The study was conducted though a writing test for 30 students with different language proficiency. Error Analysis was carried out to clarify and analyze the error and the data indicates that the students whose awareness of parts of speech are higher and their ability of spelling are better.Finally, the thesis makes some suggestion which related to the teaching strategies.
