Primary school is not only the initial stage of English learning,but also the base and the key to it.Obviously,the importance of vocabulary is that it’s the cornerstone and the premise to improve the students’ listening,reading and writing.The leading role of students’ memory is imagery memory,and the supplemented one is logical memory.According to the characteristics of the students’ thinking and memory,how to set up an effective way to guide students effectively to understand,memorize and use vocabulary is one of the major challenges in facing the teaching process in exchange.With the visual characteristics and image,mind map can present the relationship of concept in memory directly and the using of radiant thinking.Based on the theories of information processing,knowledge visualization and constructivism learning,this thesis aims at exploring the feasibility of mind map applying to English vocabulary acquisition,Meanwhile,the author has designed five English vocabulary mapping to verifying the positive role of mind map in vocabulary acquisition in primary school through experiment.Through the investigation of English vocabulary learning in primary school,found that mechanical memory are the main factors of vocabulary acquisition difficulty.This thesis hypothesis that applying the mind map to vocabulary teaching and learning can improve students’ English vocabulary acquisition.During the experiment,the author has collected some data by memorial writing on vocabulary before and after the experiment,unit dictation and questionnaire investigation.Then analyzed those data by SPSS for window 22.0 and description.The results are as follows: firstly,the mind map has a positive effect on Pupils’ English vocabulary acquisition,which improve their ability of it.It is mainly reflected on the accuracy of spelling,vocabulary size and memorizing;secondly,it can simulates students’ interest in vocabulary learning;thirdly,mind map can be used as a learning strategy to improve Students’ self-learning ability.The mind map play an important role in English vocabulary memorizing teaching in primary school.The first,it can enrich the theoretical connotation of vocabulary teaching,and explain the cognitive approach of vocabulary acquisition in an effective way.The Second,itenhance the theoretical value of vocabulary teaching,make it more richer in the theory value.The third,it make further evidence to the positive influence of primary school vocabulary teaching.For the English teacher,applied mind map to English vocabulary teaching will contribute to the development of English vocabulary teaching strategies and improve vocabulary teaching method,which make vocabulary approach more rich and diverse.For students,mind map learning requires students to organize the existing knowledge and experience effectively,and reconstruction and combined with the new vocabulary content,thus forming their own language chunks.
