In order to research the effect of Vocabulary-Instruction on vocabulary acquisition in junior high schools, I have referred to a large number of documents, combing through the theoretical bases and empirical researches on vocabulary instruction and vocabulary acquisition both home and abroad. Also, I have done research into the status quo and problems of the vocabulary instructions of English teachers and vocabulary acquisition of the students in China. On the basis of the analysis of the research, it is made clear that the topic of this dissertation is the effect of Vocabulary-Instruction on vocabulary acquisition in junior high schools.In order to better study the effect of vocabulary instruction on vocabulary acquisition, I conducted the experimental research based on a large number of theoretical studies in the early stage of my research. The experiment is divided into four stages based on my full understanding of the subjects of the experiment, research materials, time and content of the experiment, as well as the experimental methods,Stage 1, It was made sure that a new version of vocabulary for the experimental study is necessary based on the analysis of problems found in the vocabulary of Advance with English, the junior high school English textbooks by Yilin Press, After discussion and decision upon the specific content of the new vocabulary, a new 7B English vocabulary (hereinafter the new vocabulary) to be used in this research was issued and clear guidance and requirements given of the usage of this vocabulary, together with relevant tests and feedback.stage 2, During usual classroom teaching, the new vocabulary and teaching materials used in this study are closely integrated and students learn through teacher's guidance and training of vocabulary acquisition; Meanwhile, a variety of effective vocabulary teaching method were used according to the specific characteristics of the textbook and the English vocabulary,Stage 3, Vocabulary test papers based on the new vocabulary were handed out to all the students. of whom those from experimental classes and control classes should hand in the papers for further research.Stage 4, Two large scale tests were conducted to the students in the experimental classes and control classes, one approved by Nanjing 13 Education Group of Xuanwu District and carried out in No 13 Educational Group, Suojin Branch, and the second, as the final examination, in all junior high schools of Xuanwu district of Nanjing.A spssl7.0 processing of the data collected through the new English Vocabulary was done, the analysis of the mid-term and final test scores is done by the Campus Office of Academic Affairs of Nanjing No 13 middle school, Suojin branch, and then handed out to all English teachers. Detailed analysis of the data of both the experimental classes and control classes suggests the following conclusions:5. From the aspect of the mean, the level of English vocabulary of students from the experimental class is better than that of the students from the control class.6. In terms of the variance, the diversity in the ability as to grasping words of the experimental class students is minor than that of the control class students, the overall level of the former being higher.7. Overall, the vocabulary instruction is beneficial to vocabulary acquisition in junior high schools?The analysis of test scores shows that, not only is vocabulary teaching conducive to raising the level of writing of English vocabulary in junior high schools, but it also is conducive to raising the overall English level of junior high school students. As a result, vocabulary teaching improves the students' test scores of English.
