Influence And Countermeasures Of The Hedonism Trend Of Thought To College Students' Values

The trend of hedonism thought is the ideological trend which sets hedonism as one of its core values.And hedonism refers to one's attitudes towards pursuing the material and spiritual satisfaction regardless of rational thinking.People behaving with hedonism regard pursuing satisfaction as their sole purpose in life.Since the implementation of reform and opening up in our country,the economic and living conditions of Chinese people have witnessed great amelioration.With the increasing of people's demanding on both their material and spiritual lives,the trend of Hedonism thought gradually spread in China.Through the review of the development of hedonism thought in China,it could be confirmed that the values that the hedonism thought has spread and the atmosphere it has created could exert influences on the developing of people's sense of values.College students,as a promising group of people in society,are undergoing the critical phase of internalizing their sense of values.However,the core values of hedonism thought are not in consistent with the values encouraged in socialism society.Hedonism thought could not only affect the behaviors of college students,but the negative influences of this thought could easily affect college students' sense of values.College students need to shoulder their responsibilities of realizing the Chinese dream and the construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics.They also represent Chinese future and hope.The sense of values possessed by college students serves as an essential factor in affecting their behaviors,goals and future achievements.Only with a good sense of values,can college students develop into the person with excellent characters,possess right faiths and make proper contributions to the society and to our country.In a word,the sense of values held by college students indirectly affects the future of a nation.Therefore,it is needed to analyze the influences of the hedonism thought on college students' sense of values in order to provide the countermeasures for college students to get rid of the bad influences of the hedonism thought,to enhance their ability to distinguish between right and wrong and to develop self-discipline.The study analyzed the studies on hedonism thought made by scholars at home and abroad at first,and then analyzed thoroughly on the sense of values and on the influences of hedonism thought on the development of Chinese college students with the aim to put forward some measures to lead college students to set up good sense of values.The study adopted three research methods including literature,historical,and summary approaches to investigate the influences of hedonism thought and the countermeasures to cope with the issues from several aspects and domains.The current study illustrated the discussion in three chapters.Chapter One discusses the related theories on the trend of hedonism thought and college students' sense of values,including the concepts of hedonism thought,the trend of hedonism thought,sense of values and college students' sense of values.According to the research on the development of the concepts,the origin of hedonism and the reasons and characteristics of the spread of the trend of this thought in China have been demonstrated.In addition,the characteristics and significance of college students' sense of values have been discussed in the illustration of the concepts of sense of values and college students' sense of values.Chapter Two focuses on discussing the influences of hedonism thought on college students and exploring the reasons of the influences.The negative influences has been discussed from four aspects: weakening the ideals and beliefs of college students;undermining college students' beliefs on the importance of studying;interfering with college students' distinction between right and wrong;affecting college students' normal communication with classmates and friends.Six reasons for constituting the influences have been illustrated from four perspectives,namely,individual college students,family,colleges and society.Specific reasons include: the weakening of college students' consciousness of self-discipline;the lack of parents' educating on college students;the imperfection of the campus cultural construction;the utilitarianism and money worship tendency developed in the market economy;the corruption in social atmosphere;the hedonism spread in the mass media.Chapter Three proposes several effective countermeasures to assist students in establishing good sense of values from four perspectives as well,including individual college students,family,colleges and society.From the personal perspective of college students,they need to strengthen self-discipline and to improve the ability to distinguish between right and wrong;to establish ideals and faiths and to have proper learning attitudes;to learn traditional culture and to strengthen cultural confidence.From the family aspect,parents need to form healthy living habits and to cultivate their children to have correct sense of values;to avoid excessive indulgence and be fair and strict with the shortcomings of their children.From the perspective of colleges: they need to build good campus culture to resist the invasion of the hedonism thought;to exploit the advantages of the ideological and political courses to the full and to practice the socialist core values.From the social aspect,the spirit of patriotism should be advocated and the sense of social responsibilities should be enhanced;the supervision on network should be strengthened to purify the network environment.
