With the development of information technology, as one of the most popular creative techniques, brainstorming has developed a kind of new form, called electronic brainstorming. Previous studies about electronic brainstorming are very rare, mainly focused on comparing the effects on creative idea-generation among several kinds of brainstorming, and researchers stick to different opinions on it. Our research aims to inspect the influence of environmental cues on creative idea-generation, at the same time,to explore the function of creative motivation as individual' s internal factor.This research contains two studies, which are coordinate. Before the research, we conducted a electronic brainstorming based on real teams,to prepare the study data and materials for the subsequent studies.Study one examined influences of the quantity of environmental cues and creative motivation on idea-generation. We used the scale of creative motivation to screened out 94 college students, and dividing them into different experimental conditions, in the end,calculating their score of creative idea-generation. The t-test and two-way ANOVA were used to analyze the data, results are as follows:(1) The quantity and quality of creative idea-generation varied by the quantity of environmental cues, the more the environmental cues presented, the better the performance of creative idea-generation was;(2) Creative motivation influenced the function of cues' quantity on idea-generation.when the individual's motivation was low,the more the environmental cues presented,the more novel the generated ideas were. while,when the individual's motivation was high, the effects of environmental cues on idea-generation was not significant.Study two examined influences of the quality of environmental cues and creative motivation on idea-generation. We used the scale of creative motivation to screen out 80 college students, and dividing them into different experimental conditions.In the end,we calculated their scores of creative idea-generation. The t-test and two-way ANOVA were used to analyze the data, results are as follows:(1) The quantity of creative idea-generation varied by the quality of environmental cues, the more novel the environmental cues presented, the better the performance of creative idea-generation was;(2) The quantity of creative idea-generation varied by the creative motivation, the higher the level of motivation was, the better the performance of creative idea-generation was.According to this research, we can get the following conclusions: The quantity of environmental cues promoted the performance of creative idea-generation obviously, the effects of cues' quantity on idea-generation were influenced by creative motivation. The quality of environmental cues promoted the quantity of creative idea-generation significantly, and the high level of creative motivation showed better performance of creative idea-generation on quality than low level of creative motivation significantly.
