In recent years,with rapid development of computer technology,China's Internet companies become more and more and produce some new economic models.And the needs of designers' numbers for the Internet companies are become larger and larger.But the design education of colleges and universities can not give the Internet business counterparts to send the proper designer resources.The vast majority of Internet designers are in the course of practice to complete the transformation of the role of the designer.The author introduces the concept of "social role" in sociological theory,and studies the social role of the designers in Internet enterprises.This article through the vertical and horizontal angles to the "designer" role to sort out.Vertical combing the "designer" role from the embryonic stage to development into a career "designer" history.Horizontal is from the general public perspective,the perspective of enterprises and different types of designers to illustrate the perspective of the general public impression of the "designer".The author also do the researches on the requirements of enterprises for different types of designers and on mutual evaluation and self-evaluations of different types of designersThrough a multi-angle approach to the Chinese Internet companies in the role of "designer",to help designers to better understand their social roles,better role-playing;to produce a objective reference of “designer” role for students who want to work in Internet companies;to provide some reference for the design education for colleges and universities.
