Information technology has been highly concerned in education.In Progress in International Reading Literacy Study,computer-based assessment has gradually replaced pencil-and-paper tests,and becomes the main way of reading assessment.By doing so,information has been deeply integrated in reading instruction.These facts show that Chinese reading has been paid more and more attention,and the government also proposed new requirements for reading instruction in the primary school language curriculum standards.Previous research found that improving reading ability is an important purpose for Chinese instructions in primary schools,especially for grade fourth students.Therefore,this thesis takes the fourth grade and the fifth grade students as the research subjects,and aims to compare the reading ability difference between the two grades by online assessment.Besides,this thesis attempts to clarify the development trend of the students' reading ability,and provide for teachers with suggestions for the personalization of Chinese reading instructions.This thesis,furthermore,focuses on two research objectives.The first one is to understand the differences in reading ability between fourth and fifth grade students for locating their weaknesses of the development of reading ability.The second one is to understand the differences in reading ability among students for assisting teachers in personalized instructions.In this thesis,239 students were selected from the fourth and fifth grade students.Students through the primary language reading ability evaluation system for reading ability test,and the background collect relevant students test data.As for the first purpose,this study adopted independent samples t tests to analyze the differences of students' reading ability according to their grade,ability and gender.First of all,the results about grade showed that:the fifth grade students had higher reading abilities than the fourth grade students in terms of information retrieval,integration,extension,reflection and formation.However,there were not significant differences between the fourth grade students and the fifth grade students in terms of inferences.Second,the results about genders showed that the female fourth-grade students had significantly better reading abilities than the male fourth-grade students in terms of organization and expression.Besides,the male fifth-grade students had significantly better reading abilities than the female students in terms of information retrieval and question posing.Third,the results about ability showed that there was no significant difference between high and low ability of fourth grade students only in terms of extension.For the second problem,in order to understand the differences between different categories of students reading ability,this study adopted K-means clustering and one-way ANOVAs to analyze the sample data,and obtains three clusters.The fourth grade clusters included the group of students lacking fundamental abilities,the group of students lacking higher-level abilities,the group of students who have better reading ability.The fifth grade clusters included the group of students lacking integration,the group of students lacking higher-level abilities and the group of students who have better reading ability.In view of the difference of students' reading ability,this paper puts forward the following reading suggestions:(1)In terms of grades,for differentiate Chinese reading instructions,the teachers of fifth grade students should carry out interesting activities for reading instruction,collaborative learning,and pre-class lectures for stimulating their enthusiasm of reading.(2)In terms of gender,for differentiate Chinese reading instructions,for male of fourth grade,teachers should strengthen the training of knowledge integration and induction,strengthen students' ability to use knowledge;For female of fifth grade,teachers should trace the reasons of the answer of students,and maintain a quiet self-reading environment.(3)In terms of ability,for differentiate Chinese reading instructions,for high level of fourth grade,teachers should carry out regular migration and expansion of creative practice.(4)In terms of the different reading ability,for differentiate Chinese reading instructions:the lack of basic reading ability of students,teachers should focus on the accumulation of words,use the game teaching to enhance the ability,find reason for"error" to enhance integrate understanding;lack of advanced reading ability of students,teachers should be good at linking the actual analysis of the content of life,self-reflection to guide students to enhance the form of understanding ability;for excellent reading ability students,teachers should train students to develop the writing ability.
