Good oral English is an inherent requirement for students to learn English constantly.The new curriculum standard requires: besides listening, speaking, reading and writing,we English teachers should pay more attention to English communicative competence.Only in this way can students apply what they have learned into practice. Therefore, it is an important task to strengthen the students' communicative competence. For various reasons, many unfavorable factors influence High School students' oral English competence. This study focuses on the views and attitudes of teachers, students, parents and society to explore the unfavorable factors effecting students' oral English competence in Jiangxia Experimental High School.This paper makes use of sociological theory, linguistic theory and psychology theory to have explored the concept of oral English and the unfavorable factors affecting students, oral English competence in Jiangxia Experimental High School.The author learned the views of previous researchers about unfavorable factors affecting high school students' oral English competence by referring literature. To know more about the unfavorable factors affecting students' oral English competence in Jiangxia Experimental High School, the author conducts the investigation personally including 40 students and 20 teachers in the English group in Jiangxia Experimental High School in Wuhan by distributing questionnaires. To know more about the teachers',students',the parents of students and social people's attitudes towards oral English,the author also makes use of the method of interview including two parents of students and two social people. The results of the interviews are consistent with the results of the questionnaires and supplement the questionnaire which are as follows: the language environment factor, the negative influence of mother tongue factor, The college entrance examination system factor, oral language testing factor, teachers' factor, students' factor including psychological barrier factor, family factors, and social factor influence students'oral English competence in Jiangxia Experimental High School.The unfavorable factors are as follows:1) From the school environment,students' time in communication is limited in only a few English classes in a week ; from the social environment, our country is non English speaking countries, English is not used in daily life communication, so the students lack the environment where they speak English.2) The mother tongue learning experience will have a negative impact on English language learning.3) Only teaching and learning will be tested in the college entrance examination system in our country.4) On the one hand, the teacher's oral English ability is not strong, and the teacher-centered teaching methods can not attract students; on the other hand, the current education system leads to the teachers' pursuit of students' written examination results.5) Combined with their own weak foundation and fear of public speaking, students are not clear about the definition of spoken English resulting their losing interests in spoken English, even not attaching importance to it.6) The students' anxiety, self-confidence, motivation and interest affect their attitudes towards oral English learning.7) The parents' negative attitudes of oral English learning influence their children.8) Most social people's views have influenced the attitudes of high school students.At last, the article summarizes the main research results and discusses the Enlightenment of the research, pointing out the shortcomings of this study and putting forward some corresponding suggestions.
