As a new statistical method in nearly 30 years , multivariate statistical analysis method obtained the rapid development. With the rapid development of network technology, there're a large amount of data to statistics and analysis in various industries.Multivariate statistic,al methods penetrated into all fields quickly, especially in areas such as economy, medicine and finance. It provides a lot of convenience to the development of industry,as well as people's work. China now is the largest developing country in the world, we must put education in the important position. University is a talent training base, education and teaching quality has been more and more attention.How to improve the teaching quality of universities, looking for better ways to guide and cultivate college students, make them play their own special skill, intelligence,contribute to our nation and society, has become a top priority. Using the method of multivariate statistical analysis in various fields involved in universities, such as student assessment, teacher's teaching quality evaluation, students' employment and so on.Using SPSS software to analyze and evaluate the collected data, using the results to guide the teaching work in universities, at the same time, also provide valuable improvements to the functional departments.This paper mainly introduces two methods of multivariate statistical analysis,the principal component analysis and factor analysis.and give the definition, mathematical model and calculation method,by applying the method of factor analysis to make comprehensive evaluation to the students. It is using SPSS software,analyze the achievements of the 64 students at the university of four years with the principal component analysis and factor analysis to find out the potential factors which influences their subjects.It also calculates the factor score, through their factor score, calculate the comprehensive score Comparing two factor analysis results, it is concluded that the role of factor analysis to evaluate the students. This article also studied four professional basic courses and a total of 141 students at the four years compulsory course in level 13, to examinate how professional effects students' achievement. It concludes that the diffierences between college students' professional has no effect on the students'academic performance through the analysis. Besides,this paper introduces that how multivariate statistical analysis method evaluate the teaching quality in universities,how to guide the work of recruit students, how to guide students employment and how to improve the thesis guidance satisfaction. Multivariate statistical analysis method has strong practicability, university teachers should master the scientific method, and apply in the teaching, analyze students' achievement in a reasonable way, evaluate the students' comprehensive ability scientifically,and study the way to improve the quality of their teaching.They can find the problem in time, constantly improve their own teaching work,.By using multivariate statistical methods to raise their teaching level and promote China's universities personnel toward the direction of higher quality.
