According to data retrieved from the paper National research on disabled senior citizens republished by the China Senior Citizen Research Center in 2011,there were 33 million disabled senior citizens in our country,representing 19% of total senior citizens.Moreover,among the 33 million disabled senior citizens,10.8 million are completely disabled.The number of disabled senior citizens are expected to increase over time,requiring more resources to be taken care of.Nowadays,the major approach to care of senior citizens is to let them stay at home.Meanwhile,senior-caring organizations are also emerging rapidly.However,most senior-caring organizations refuse to accept or set a high price for those senior citizens who are completely disabled.The author conducted research on the price of senior-caring service at several organizations,learning that it costs 3000-5000 yuan for a month.Obviously,the price means some pressure for most ordinary families.Therefore,taking care the senior citizens at home is the dominant pattern these days.Now the questions are,how to take care of the disabled senior citizens nicely and how to alleviate their emotions.Those questions are the problems that every single family needs to take into consideration.At the same time,those questions bring the carers many heavy burdens,leading to mental and physical exhaustion of the carers.In the light of this statement,the society has to think about how to assist the carers in taking care of disabled senior citizens.In this paper,the author will exhibit a report when the author participated in a project in 2016 at TX community.This project utilized theory of self-utility,theory of social support,providing emotional support,technical instruction as well as forming peerassisting platform for family carers in order to offer help to each other.
