The teaching materials have been divided into required and elective parts since the course reform.The content of Selective of Inequality in the elective part is essential since the required part covers a little of inequality and doesn’t meet the students’ need for learning mathematics.However,teachers have to choose among the content of the elective textbook due to the difference of the students’ knowledge level.Furthermore,because of the stress from the college entrance exams,teachers need to focus on the required part and cannot cover all the material in the elective part.That’s why teachers are facing the problem of what to choose to teach.After a deep analysis of the textbook by comparing the content and related information of the previous and contemporary edition,the author proposes several suggestions for the teaching of high school mathematics.The paper explains the detail of the research,which is mainly conducted by releasing questionnaire and interviewing teachers.To better understand the teaching of Selective of Inequality,the author released questionnaire among teachers and students in Qixian High School and interviewed some teachers.After analyzing data gathered from the questionnaire,the author found out the students’ quandary and the teachers’ suggestion about the textbook.With the conclusion made from the research and the experience during the internship,the author proposes several suggestions for the teaching of Selective of Inequality,which are intended to give a help to the teachers and students.
