With the development of globalization,people's demands and requirements for oral English skills have been gradually improved,and English language learners pay more and more attention to their oral English skills.The ultimate goal of English learning is to communicate,and the level of a person's English ability can be expressed by the strength of one's oral skills.Oral skills are an indispensable part of English communication and also an important part in English learning.However,in China,high school English teaching emphasizes too much on the English reading skills.English teaching in high school focuses on teaching students how to get information from the eyes but ignores how to develop the students' ability to grasp the information from ears and the ability to talk with others.Therefore,the cultivation of students' oral skills in senior high school English teaching has not been paid enough attention.Oral English teaching in high school only focuses on the students' spelling and reciting of new words and texts,not on the students' oral English training and applying.So that's why many high school students still can't speak English fluently even though they have learned English for three years.Based on this,the researcher studied the English teaching resources and oral English teaching mode of the No.38 Senior High school in Guiyang,and tried to apply the speech presentation to the practice of oral English teaching.It aims to improve students' oral English skills,interest in English learning,autonomous learning ability and English integrated competence.The research selected Class Five as the experimental class and Class Six as the control class,and speech presentation was held in the experimental class during the semester.Then through observation,questionnaire,interview and test,the performance of the two classes were analyzed.According to the research,the students' oral English ability has been improved significantly in the experimental class after the speech presentation.And compared with the control class,the students in the experimental class have an obvious interest in English learning;in the autonomous learning ability,students' collecting and organizing ability in the experimental class is much higher than that of the control class;and their final test scores are also higher than the control class.The research shows that it is necessary and effective to do the speech presentation in high school English teaching.It can improve the students' oral English skills,interest in English learning,autonomous learning ability and integrated English language competence.
