Listening is one of the most important basic language strategies(listening,speaking,reading and writing)and it occupied the first place,listening comprehension is particularly the most important one.We found those scholars? studies for the English listening of the senior high school English examination,especially for the English listening part C of the senior high school English examination,they did not research much.Moreover,the research about listening strategies even lesser.This paper based on the cognitive theory,the author try to through the strategies of the English listening part C of the senior high school English examination,the empirical research of junior middle school grade three students on the use of listening strategies,to explore the effective strategies in junior middle school English listening comprehension.Two classes totally 90 students in grade nine participated in this study,they are the author?s own students in the rural junior middle school.There are a pre-test and a post-test in this experiment,then the experimental group students received for ten weeks of listening strategy training.And then through the questionnaire survey to know the situation of the use of English listening strategies,listening attitude and listening confidence towards.After ten-week listening strategy training,there are four students of experimental class has carried on the simple interview to intuitively know the situation of the students? listening strategies usage and their listening attitude and confidence towards.The data collected from the tests and questionnaires were analyzed via SPSS(16.0).The author got the following findings: 1,the control group and experimental group appeared significantly difference.The experimental group students' listening level than the control group had obvious enhancement.2,after a period of ten-week listening strategies training,the experimental group students use the listening strategies more frequency,their listening confidence has increased,and their listening attitude has changed.3,this study also confirmed that the introduction of strategy training in junior middle school English listening teaching is practical and reasonable.Finally,this paper points out some deficiencies in the training in this research and it needs to be improved in practice.Some suggestions for junior middle school English listening teaching were given,and limitations of the present research were discussed.
