Reading teaching is always an important task of English classroom in the senior high school.No doubt,it's of great importance to foster the reading ability of senior high school students.However,there's still many problems in reading teaching of real English classroom.For example,the teaching design tends to be inflexible and ignores the reading experience of students,the design of questions is not scientific and the reading process of students are impeded,which makes students lose interest in reading,boring reading process can't promote the internalization and output of the language.All these have a bad influence on teaching efficiency.Based on socio-cultural theory,cooperative learning theory,second language acquisition theory and schema reading theory,the paper analyzes the connotation and features of English reading in senior high school from perspective of socio-cultural theory.Combining with the action research of A class in L senior high school in Ningbo through observation and interview,the researcher tries to explore some effective ways to improve the teaching of English reading.This paper can be divided into three parts:The first part is chapter one,two and three.They are the theoretical basis of this paper.Chapter one mainly introduces the research background,objective and significance and research methods.Chapter two introduces some relative researches of English reading and socio-cultural theory at home and abroad,including the reading connotation,reading model,reading strategies,research of second language teaching from perspective of socio-cultural theory.Chapter three is the theoretical basis.Socio-cultural theory,cooperative learning theory,second language acquisition theory and schema reading theory provide a solid basis for this research.The second part is chapter four,five and six.Chapter four propose the connotation of English reading in senior high school from perspective of socio-cultural theory :it regards the learning process as a conversation between the students with the guide of the teacher,which will certainly promote the conversation between the text and the students.It also analyzes it's features.They are situationality,cooperation,reflection and generativity.Chapter five is the process of action research.Using classroom observation and interviews to collect date,the researcher develops action research for four months(three rounds)in L senior high school in Ningbo,aims to show how the reading teaching of English classroom develop and improve step by step.Chapter six is the research suggestion.Based on the previous research,the researcher proposes some strategies to promote reading teaching in English classroom.The third part is chapter seven.It is the conclusion of this paper,proposing the shortcoming and prospect of this paper.This paper aims to analyze the reading teaching of senior high school from perspective of socio-cultural theory,hopes to help more English educators understand socio-cultural theory,and apply it to practical English teaching so that the reading teaching in English classroom can be improved and developed effectively.
