| Writing is an important part of English learning.It is a necessary skill to master the language.In the past few decades,English teachers pay more attention to the writing.Both students and teachers are eager to improve their writing ability.However,writing is still a very headache problem in practical training.Many researchers have been trying to find effective ways to help students to improve their English writing.Based on the second language acquisition theory,Professor Wang Chuming proposed continuation task.It is a combination of reading and writing practice.This task helps to stimulate imagination and cultivate innovative thinking abilities effectively,which is an effective way to improve English writing ability.This research aims to explore whether the continuation task can promote the writing ability and reduce the anxiety of second language learners.There are two research questions:(1)Does continuation task significantly improve Senior High School students’ writing performance?(2)Does continuation task significantly reduce Senior High School students’ writing anxiety? During the 14-week experiment,two parallel classes from Shijiazhuang No.1middle school participate in the study.Then two classes are divided into control class and experimental class randomly.The major findings from this study are as follows:Firstly,continuation task has a significant effect on improving students’ writing performance.Meanwhile,the writing results are analyzed from three aspects: content,structure and language.These three aspects all make a progress,especially in structure and language.Secondly,continuation task has a significant effect on reducing students’ writing anxiety.The research still exists a variety of shortcomings,so it is necessary to carry out the further studies. |
