In Senior High School,teachers and students lay great emphasis on English writing.After years of research,Professor Wang Chumming puts forward Continuation Task in 2012 as well as points out it is an effective method to improve the efficiency of foreign language learning.The thesis mainly explored whether Continuation Task can effectively improve students' performance of English writing in Senior High School.According to the CAF analysis,this thesis focused on the effectiveness on three aspects,namely the complexity,accuracy and fluency of English writing.The participants in this research come from a Senior High School,who are chosen from two paralleled classes in Senior Three.The main experimental instruments include one pretest,two posttests and an interview.It took 19 weeks to complete the whole research.In order to make sure that there was no significant difference in English writing between EC and CC,the pretest was carried out in the first week.The experimental teaching process took place from Week Two to Week Thirteen,when the experimental group was instructed through the Continuation Task in their writing lessons.The fourteenth week was spared out for the first posttest,which was designed to figure out the effectiveness of Continuation Task on English writing,including three specific aspects of complexity,accuracy and fluency.From the fifteenth week to the eighteenth week,there was no any treatment at all.And then,in the nineteenth week,the second posttest was carried out to work out whether the effectiveness of Continuation Task on English writing was sustainable.All the data collected from this research were analyzed and discussed by SPSS21.This thesis figured out the following major findings.Firstly,Continuation Task can improve students' performance of English writing in Senior High School and the effectiveness of it is sustainable after a month without any treatment.What's more,there is a significant difference between EC and CC.Secondly,Continuation Task can promote students' development of complexity in Senior High School and the effectiveness of it is sustainable after a month without any treatment.In addition,there is a significant difference between EC and CC.Thirdly,inspections of the development of EC's means and tendency in the aspect of English writing's accuracy indicate that Continuation Task can promote students' development of accuracy in Senior High School.However,inspections of the result of t-test indicate that there is no significant difference between EC and CC.Lastly,inspections of the development of EC's means and tendency in the aspect of English writing's fluency indicate that Continuation Task can promote students' development of fluency in Senior High School.However,inspections of the result of t-test indicate that there is no significant difference between EC and CC.With the supplement of the interviews made among the students in EC,conclusions are drawn from two aspects: on the one hand,students admit Continuation Task is very interesting and it can arouse their desire to express themselves creatively and actively;on the other hand,the type of the titles written in Continuation Task are not the same as the ones tested in the participants' province,which leads some students to pay little attention to this method and influences the results of the thesis to some extent.
