Vocabulary learning is the foundation of English learning,and its teaching quality will directly affect the quality of English teaching.The studying period of junior middle school is one of the most important stages for the Chinese students.However,nowadays,English Vocabulary Teaching in junior high school faces many problems,such as,the fixed teaching structure,single teaching methods and lower learning efficiency.In order to solve these issues,this paper will explore new English vocabulary teaching methods on the basis of Jigsaw method and by means of the questionnaire survey,experimental method and individual interviews.Firstly,the paper introduces the research background and the problems students are facing with-inefficient vocabulary memory;the lack of initiative in vocabulary learning and so on.Therefore,it is imperative for the English teachers to seek a scientific and effective English vocabulary teaching method.Thus,Cooperative learning is a valid way to cultivate students' ability to use language and promote their communication.It has been widely recognized by the world.As one of the cooperative learning method,Jigsaw can make up for some disadvantages of traditional teaching methods,promote the interaction between teachers and students,mobilize students' interest and enthusiasm in learning.Therefore,the author intends to study the application of the Jigsaw method in the junior high school English Vocabulary Teaching.Secondly,the author describes the concept of cooperative teaching and vocabulary teaching strategies,the development and the status quo of domestic and foreign research,the analysis of the advantages and the evaluation mechanism.It shows that it is feasible to use the cooperative teaching method in English Vocabulary Teaching in junior middle school.Third,through the specific teaching case,the author focuses on a detailed description of Jigsaw methods in Junior English vocabulary teaching experiment;and clarify that the Jigsaw in junior high school English vocabulary teaching is effective by means of the comparison experiment,collection,collation and analysis of the experimental data and results.
