A Study On The Backwash Effect On Teachers’ Teaching And Students’ Learning Of NMET In Hubei With Lichuan No.5 Senior High School As An Example

The implementing of the National Matriculation English Test(NMET)in Hubei has brought some effects on teachers and students.NMET is very important for high school students.2016 is the first year for Hubei to use the NMET as the college entrance examination.It is important for us to know the differences between the NMET and the Hubei Matriculation English Test(HMET),and the Backwash Effect of the NMET,and we also should be clear that which test can reflect the connotations of the New English Curriculum Standards(NECS).In order to know the answers of these questions:(1)What are the differences of the NMET and HMET?Which examination is closer to NECS?(2)What are the Backwash Effects of the NMET on teachers?(3)What are the Backwash Effects of the NMET on students?The writer uses document analysis and questionnaire to do the research.The documents are Hubei’s 2015 Matriculation English Test and the 2016 National Matriculation English Test.The questionnaire was done in a high school called Lichuan No.5 middle school in Hubei Enshi.This paper consists of five chapters.Chapter one explains the background information of the research.It describes the aims and the practical significance of the research.Chapter two,literature review,defines the Backwash Effect,and reviews researches on the subject both at home and abroad.Chapter three puts forward the research questions,examine participants and the research methods and data collection,and the design of the research.Chapter four summarizes the results of the data and discuses the result.Chapter five is the conclusion.
