Writing ability is one of the marks of students' comprehensive ability in language application.Vocabulary,which is the basis of writing,plays an important role in writing,and the vocabulary accuracy of students' writing is an important indicator to measure the quality of Writing.The use of vocabulary not only reflects the real situation of students' learning,but also enables teachers to find out where the students' problems are and take corresponding measures.Although there have been many researches on writing vocabulary in the past few decades,there have been few studies on how to improve the vocabulary accuracy in writing.And most of the researches are concentrated on colleges and universities,the study of high school is less.Therefore,based on the definition of vocabulary accuracy and the theory of error analysis,this paper studies how to improve the vocabulary accuracy of English writing in Senior two students.In this study,the researcher acts as an English intern teacher in the key class of Yilong Middle School in Sichuan Province,and conducts a 16-week action study in the first semester of the 2017-2018.By interviewing and analyzing the questionnaire and composition of the students,this study mainly answers the following questions:1.What are the main problems in the vocabulary accuracy of students' English writing?2.What might be the cause of these vocabulary errors?3.How to improve the vocabulary accuracy of English writing in spelling,collocation and misselection?The study finds that there are 1204 vocabulary errors among the 1923 language errors in English writing,which account for 62.62% of all mistakes.The main types of these errors are spelling errors,collocation errors and vocabulary misselection,and collocation errors have the highest occurrence rate,followed by spelling errors and vocabulary misselection.Collocation errors are mainly reflected in fixed collocations and collocation errors betweenverbs and nouns.Spelling errors are mainly reflected in omissions,overwriting,miswriting,order,and so on.The misselection of vocabulary is mainly a mixed use of part of speech.However,there are a lot of reasons for these errors.The main causes of spelling mistakes are the complexity of English itself,carelessness and insensitivity to spelling;Collocation errors are caused by students' inaccurate memory,inadequate input and negative transfer of their mother tongue;Vocabulary misselection is due to students' lack of knowledge,interference from their mother tongue,inappropriate learning strategies and lack of proper practice.In view of the above problems,the researcher has taken different measures at different stages: In the first cycle,using topic classification memory and combining vocabulary teaching with reading text to accumulate vocabulary and cultivate students' vocabulary awareness.In the second cycle,students are trained the ability to use vocabulary correctly,including contextual meaning,associative meaning and collocation by English-Chinese translation,lexical correction,choice to fill in the blanks,lexical construction and supplementary discourse.The third cycle trains students to write,apply vocabulary correctly to writing,revise,give feedback and so on.According to the tests and interviews,the author finds that the measures to improve the vocabulary accuracy of students' writing is effective.The students' vocabulary errors in writing are obviously reduced,and the vocabulary accuracy in writing is improved significantly.This study hopes that teachers can pay attention to the vocabulary teaching of writing,take specific measures according to the actual situation of students,and provide students with correct methods and strategies to learn the vocabulary of writing,in order to improve the vocabulary accuracy of students' writing.
