Ability of critical thinking is the important premise of improvement on innovation ability and creative thinking ability which is also one of the important topics in educational research at home and abroad since the 21 st century.Besides,critical thinking ability is one of emphases in the area of education.All the year round,however,affected by the exam-oriented education,high school English writing teaching came to focus on the language ability rather than pay more attention to language learning,therefore,English thinking ability training has been weakened.As a basic channel of talking and communication,English writing is a standard element to measure students' English ability.The requirement of English writing for each students is: do language expression,semantic expression by using logical thinking and this kind of expression is the active creation process for learners.In this process,English critical thinking plays an extremely important role.At present,there are few studies on the combination of critical thinking and high school English writing at home and abroad,however,most of which focus on the area of university research.High school period is a key stage for students to develop critical thinking,and high school English writing should be effectively integrated with the cultivation of critical thinking.So,on the basis of understanding the overall level of critical thinking of senior high school students,selected a class of a senior high school students in Hanzhong city.There are total of 68 subjects accepting critical thinking ability training for three months.During this period,two writing tests has been conducted,and Several front-line teachers and students were interviewed.At the same time the collected data were analyzed and summarized,explored the correlation between critical thinking with English writing,explored the changes before and after the experiment on students critical thinking and English writing ability.The results of this study were summarized and discussed,and the findings were as follows:(1)The overall critical thinking of high school students is at the level of middle to lower;(2)Critical thinking has a positive impact on English writing;(3)The teaching method of combining critical thinking with English writing has remarkable effect.Finally,some suggestions are put forward for cultivating students' critical thinking ability in the processes of English writing teaching in senior high school.The shortcomings of this study were finally clarified and the research prospect was introduced.
