With the growing popularity of Chinese education in Korea,as well as the continuous CPIK project,Chinese learners in Korea are at younger ages,and it's paid more and more attention.Vocabulary teaching is the essential part of Chinese teaching,so the study of vocabulary teaching in TCSL has always been put in an important position,which has abundant researches aimed at various learners.However,the study of vocabulary teaching aimed at middle school students in Korea is deficient.Thus aiming at the middle school students in Korea,this paper studies the vocabulary teaching based on morphological awareness.Morphological awareness refers to learners' awareness of morphological structures in vocabulary and the ability to utilize the structures,and Chinese is a morpheme language.Therefore,for middle school Chinese learners of zero basis in Korea,it is very necessary for teachers to build up the morphological awareness in vocabulary teaching,which not only can be beneficial for understanding and using words but also good for speculating the meaning of a new word and expanding students' vocabulary.The writer of this paper has taught Chinese for one year in Xuehua Middle School in Korea.This paper observed the vocabulary teaching in Chinese class of Xuehua middle school and analyzed the morpheme in the new words lists of the textbook which is used in it,including high frequency morpheme and polysemous morpheme.The statistics found that the repetitious morphemes account for half of the vocabulary in the textbook.Therefore,the importance of the morphological awareness cultivation is obvious.Then using the methods of questionnaires,this paper conducts a survey of the fifty middle school Chinese teachers in the CPIK project of 2017 about their Chinese vocabulary teaching,and puts forward effective approaches of vocabulary teaching based on morphological awareness.Firstly,it mainly describes the background and significance of this paper.Based on previous studies,the writer read articles of relevant current situation of Chinese morpheme teaching and the vocabulary teaching of Chinese learners in Korea,laid down the boundaries of the research topic and put forward the innovation and the deficiency in this paper.Secondly,analyzing the morpheme repetition of the new words lists of the Chinese textbook Daily Chinese in native Korea,the statistics found that though elementary Chinese textbook in native Korea has a small vocabulary,the repetition rate of part morphemes is high.For some morphemes appear repeatedly,and synonymous morphemes occupy a large part,it is necessary for teachers to paraphrase them alone,which proves definitively the significance of the morphological awareness cultivation in vocabulary teaching.Then,the writer took the fifty middle school Chinese teachers teaching Chinese in Korea from 2017 to 2018 as the respondents to carry on a survey of current vocabulary teaching and morpheme teaching situation in middle school of Korea through the questionnaire.Through analysis and statistics,the data found that most teachers approve the importance of the vocabulary teaching and morpheme teaching,however,they spend less time on morpheme teaching in middle school.Finally,from the writer's observation in Korean middle school for one year and the analysis of the statistics in the survey,this paper explored the effective approaches of morpheme cultivation in vocabulary teaching,and raised the suggestion on compiling the Chinese textbook in middle school.
