| English vocabulary teaching plays a significant role in senior high school.As the basic part of English teaching,vocabulary teaching has been pay much attention by teachers.But for a long time,there is a teaching phenomenon in English vocabulary teaching.The teacher’s vocabulary teaching method is single,which leads to the time-consuming and inefficient teaching phenomenon.So it is a challenge for teachers to help students to grasp vocabulary properly.On this account,the paper attempts to apply the “Typical Member” theory and “Family Resemblance” theory to combine with vocabulary in teaching process.The purpose of this study is to explore the effectiveness of prototype theory in English vocabulary which can improve the students’ learning ability and the long-term memory of English vocabulary.On this basis,two parallel classes in Xinyang senior high school are selected as experimental participants.Before the experiment,the two classes are investigated by pre-test.In the course of the experiment,adopting the previous methods in control class,while in the experimental class,the author apply prototype theory to teaching.After experiment,two classes are investigated by post-test and are conducted interview in experimental class.In this experiment,the author adopts the methods of pre-test,post-test and interview to collect and analyze data.A quantitative and qualitative study has been used in this research.Through data analysis and discussion,this study draws the following conclusions: The experiment verifies vocabulary teaching under the guidance of category of prototype theory can improve the student’s long-term memory of vocabulary and the students’ English vocabulary learning ability.Through this teaching experiment the author finds out: the specific application of prototype theory in English vocabulary teaching especially focusing on the learning of prototype vocabulary,can transform the previous mechanical memorizing into the meaning-oriented memorizing and effectively improve the students’ learning ability and the long-term memory of English vocabulary,so as to provide certain assistance for the English vocabulary teaching in senior high school. |
