In English learning, listening is an important way to communicate and acquire knowledge, and it is an important teaching content in English Curriculum Standards for Common Senior High School(2017).So it is of significance to cultivate students' listening ability and improve their listening scores. However,in reality some students have problems and difficulties with English listening.Anxiety is one of the most important variable factors that have an impact on language learners' learning effects. In 1986,the American psychologists Horwitz and Cope published Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety which pointed out that listening was the most common one to arouse language learners' anxiety among the four basic language skills.Senior Grade One students are in the transition stage from junior high school to senior high school, and many problems easily appear in their English learning.Among all the problems, listening anxiety is obvious. On the one hand, listening requirements in senior high school are higher than that in junior high school. On the other hand, many students cannot adapt to the new learning style very well.So the study of Senior Grade One students' English listening anxiety is of vital significance. The research subjects are 168 Senior Grade One students from three parallel classes in No.1 Senior High School of Licheng District,Jinan. Both quantitative and qualitative methods are used in the research. The questionnaire is to measure the state of students' listening anxiety, their listening anxiety levels and the sources of listening anxiety. All the data are analyzed by SPSS 22.0.Four English teachers and fifteen students are chosen randomly as the interviewees, and the purpose of the interview is to know teachers' teaching methods and students' suggestions to reduce listening anxiety.By analyzing all the data, the author presents the following findings: 1.65% of the students experience medium listening anxiety,19.8% experience high listening anxiety, and 15.2% experience low listening anxiety.2.The factors causing students' listening anxiety include the three aspects: the students' characteristics, the teachers' factors, andother external factors, for example, the difficulty of listening material and listening process environment.3.There is a relationship between the transition stage from junior high school to senior high school and listening anxiety.According to the result, this study puts up some implications for English listening teaching of senior grade one,and it points out limitations of the study and hope in the future study.
