In these industries of high cost and high risk such a nuclear power generation, power dispatching and aerospace, the system have an extreme request on system reliability. To these industries, it is a very important problem that how to improve the system reliability. With the rapid development of integrated circuit, the hardware cost became cheaper, the performance is higher and higher which provides a good conditions for redundancy technology. For some industrial production process control system witch use the server, we can improve the system reliability by using redundancy technology. In this paper, we study with Linux server redundancy technology.In this paper we first embarks from the system reliability, analyze the related factors that influent the server reliability and the common method of redundancy and classic form redundancy.Get there Reliability expression using detailed mathematical deduction.Compare the form of the redundant reliability and resource consumption.In order to implement the dual redundancy,three key techiques must be solved. There three key techiques are synchronization technology, fault detection and arbitrati on switching technology. Analyze the relationship between each state redundancy system. As main and standby reliability under the same assumption in a redundant system, get the three models reliability mathematical expression of the system and draw the corresponding reliability curve. It shows that,two parallel machine redundancy is better than those others. Select two parallel machine pattern for redundant system design with the Linux operating system.Design the dual redundant system architecture and raise a parallel redundancy switching strategy. The design of dual redundancy system is abstracted to the RT-LAB model. The simulation of dual redundant system is under the environment of RT-LAB. While the system is operating, control the health status of some key process as what we want, to test the system can do the switch between the primary and standby servers.Build the construction of the server under Linux environment according to the client/server model, then design the method of how to get all relevant process on the server, how to manage these process, how to communication between the primary and standby servers, how to switch between the primary and standby servers.
