Information hiding as an important branch of information security,because of its hidden behavior and hidden content features,gradually become the focus of research both at home and abroad. Hiding secret information in the public video carrier, then send out the video carried secretive information through the network, the receiver extract the hiding information while playing the video by receiving video data, so as to realize safe hidden secret information transmission. Now, 2D video steganography is very popular and 3D video steganography a new field. Therefore, a covert communication system based on 2D/3D video steganography is designed and implemented.The source code structures of X264 encoder and FFmpeg decoder is analyzed,understanding the Mechanisms of X264 encoding H.264 video and FFmpeg decoding H.264 video process and finding the program key point of realizing the information embedding in X264 encoder and the information extracting in FFmpeg decoder lay the foundations for the covert communication system.Designed and implemented a hiding information embedding subsystem which can embed hiding information into video data while X264 encodes the H.264 video without affecting the encoding process. Combining with the features of FFmpeg, the subsystem can also transcode the non-H.264 video into H.264 video to embed hiding information, it has very good versatility.Designed and implemented a kind of scheme which can transfer secretive information reliably. Through structing hiding information and cyclic redundancy embedding, the hiding information can be extracted reliably and correctly when the video carried hiding information is received and played randomly at any time.Designed and implemented a hiding information extracting subsystem which can extract the hiding infortion reliably when playing the video file or video data received from network, and the extraction process does not affect the video decoding process.At present,a 2D/3D H.264 video covert communication system based on X264 encoder and FFmpeg decoder is implemented, Actual operation shows that the system have achieved the purpose of using mass video under special environment to realize covert communication and it has a certain pratical application value.
