Research On SCM Application In Group’s Internal Projects

In recent years, with the rapid development of electronic science and technology industry, the number of business groups in this field expanded continuously. Meanwhile, the scale of software development companies and their projects also expanded. This led to the gradually appearance of problems in their software configuration management(i.e. SCM). Currently, most research on SCM relies mainly on theoretical research, while the practice of SCM for projects and related research is in lack.An in-depth analysis and detailed study of the configuration management of group’s internal projects is made in this paper. With the help of the writer’s SCM experience, a schema of SCM application in the group’s internal projects is also described in detail in this paper.A group’s internal project is cited as an example in this paper to describe the implementation of the scheme, including the problems raised during the running of the scheme and related solutions. Two SCM patterns to fit group’s internal projects are introduced in this paper. One is the “Waterfall Model” pattern to fit projects with single customer. The other is the “Incremental Waterfall Model” pattern to fit projects with multiple customers.The application of SCM scheme has achieved a good effect within the project and greatly enhanced the SCM ability. It may provide a good reference to the SCM activities in other projects.
