With the application of virtualization technology, the size of the data center is increasing,and the area of the two-layer network is becoming more and more. The traditional network architecture is based on the three-layer, which mainly controls the data flow from north and south, and the data center virtual machine migration is based on the data flow from east to west. In order to solve the problem that the number of the tenant is limited by using the virtual local area network, VMware company has proposed a L2 over L3 technology solution- VXLAN. It provides a function that creates a separate multi tenant broadcast domain crossing data center structure, and allows customers to create a network crossing the physical network boundary.At the beginning of this thesis, the development background of VXLAN technology and the core content of VXLAN technology are analyzed and studied. The two typical VXLAN schemes(Overlay VXLAN scheme and the non Controller scheme) are described.The Overlay VXLAN network model is the combination of VXLAN network technology and virtual controller, through the Overlay network to set up the physical network architecture and configuration of the network architecture. In this thesis, the use of the switch and the controller in the VXLAN technology is the main concern, according to the actual network model and testing needs to design the test network and get the final test results. The VXLAN no Controller scheme is used in the physical network architecture with VXLAN technology alone. It does not need to combine the virtual machine controller networking program. Therefore, the problem of VXLAN three-layer gateway is mainly concerned in this test scheme, and the test task is completed according to the different network model.With the rapid development of cloud computing, big data applications and services of the era, the virtual network number of cloud data centers need increases rapidly, VXLAN technology can effectively solve the problems that the lack of cloud data center network,and the virtual machine's switch MAC address overflow. In addition, VXLAN technology itself is not perfect, there are a lot of needs to improve. With the gradual perfection of VXLAN technology, it will become the mainstream technology in the network virtualization technology, and it will be widely used in large-scale cloud data center.
