Power analysis attack is an important side-channel cryptographic analysis technique, which is widely believed to be one of the most powerful attacks. SM4 is a kind of block cypher algorithm with a classic Feistel structure, released in 2012 as a national standard cypher algorithm by Office of Security Commercial Code Administration. Researchers have been studied the power analysis attacks against SM4 ever since it was released. And remarkable achievements have been published. But, generally, most of the studies are based on simulation, not on practical implementations. However, power analysis attacks are quite reality-related. Therefor the study of power analysis attacks against the SM4 smart card implementation is much more practical and of great necessity. This thesis is based on the study of power analysis attacks against the smart card implementation of SM4, as well as its security evaluation technics. Main contents and contributions of this thesis are listed as follows:(1) Power Analysis Attacks Against the Smart Card Implementation of SM4Since most of the previous studies are based on simulation but not on practical implementations, this thesis focuses on the smart card implementation. It designed and implemented power analysis attacks against the smart card implementation of SM4, and the attacks turned out to be successful.(2) A Low-Entropy Mask Scheme for SM4 AlgorithmThis thesis proposed a low-entropy mask scheme, RSM SM4, to prevent the SM4 implementation from leaking key information, which is suitable for smart card implementation. It is proved to be effective by the experiments.(3) Security Evaluation Techniques for the Implementations of SM4This thesis applies Eurocrypt 2009 Framework and Normalized Inter-Class Variance to the smart card implementations of SM4. The evaluation result is consistent with the experiments, turning to be reasonable and effective. This thesis studies the Power Analysis Attacks against the smart card implementations of SM4 and the security evaluation techniques. It is based a practical platform, providing a complete example for the Side-Channel Analysis and security evaluation of cypher algorithm. The study of this thesis has both academic and practical significance.
