With the rapid development of telecommunications and video technology,more and more video conference systems are used in the governments,military,financial,communication,traffic,medical,education and many other fields.Act as the core role in video conference,the high reliability of the video conference terminal is very important.In a traditional video conference terminal backup solution,people usually use two video conference terminal and a video router,when one terminal failed,the operator will make a judgment and switch the signal manually.It has to take several minutes and even more time,so the meeting has to be stopped.To decrease the difficulty of making a judgment and avoid the break of the meeting,a seamless switching system with hot backup function is in urgent need.This paper puts forward an automatic seamless switching system,it can monitor the signal status of both terminals,when one terminal fails,it can automatically switch to the other one immediately,so the meeting can proceed smoothly without break.The project in this paper uses a FPGA to monitor and analyze the signal status,a seamless switch is also performed by it,a K60 ARM CPU is used to work as the central control unit.This project solves several key technical problems include the high definition signal detect and auto switching,synchronous switching of video and audio signal,high speed TMDS signal bypass when power-off and the switching of parallel data.It elaborates the design scheme of the system hardware and software implementation in detail.The hardware chapter includes the video&audio input and output process module,seamless switch module,bypass module and the control module.The software chapter includes the software design of the ARM unit,FPGA software design and the monitoring software design.In the final part of the paper,the test procedure and test results of the system are given.The test experiments show that,the system implements the desired function,the electronics parameter and the system reliability meet the relevant standard.It can guarantee the quality and effect of the video conference,this system can be widely used in the video conference market.
