Abstract/Summary:
With the rise of the paradigm of data-intensive researches,data as an important academic resource,has great value in researches.Thus data literacy has become one of the necessary academic skills for the academic developments of graduate students,and has aroused great attention of scholars both at home and abroad.The evaluation of postgraduates’ data literacy is the prerequisite for carrying out pertinence and validity data literacy education.And to strengthen the education of postgraduates’ data literacy relates to the cultivation of data application and innovation competency of the high-level talents in this digital time,and has significant importance towards the improvement of postgraduates’ information literacy in the era of big data and the optimization of scientific researches methods as well as the deepening of library services.This paper referred to the researches on data literacy both at home and abroad,summarized the relevant concepts of data literacy,used the theories of information literacy,life cycle of data and competency model,synthesized the methods of literature research,questionnaire survey,expert interview,educational measurement and so on,analyzing the construction and the application of evaluation scale of graduate students’ data literacy.By analyzing the demands for the data literacy of the postgraduates and the status of the data supply of the libraries of universities,the shortcomings of the educational practices of the library data literacy were summarized.Constructing the competency standard of postgraduate students’ data literacy based on scientific research activities.The evaluation scale including 6 levels and 19 standards,which are data awareness,data collection and evaluation,data organization and management,data processing and analysis,data utilization and archiving and data ethic.The appropriate samples of graduate students were selected to be tested andretested,and by making modifications according to the experts’ advice on the contents of the scale,the final scale contains 48 items.The reliability,validity,relevance and degree of fit were measured by the evaluation scale.The evaluation scale was used to carry out large-scale evaluation in 13 colleges and universities nationwide.Constructing the national norm,the regional norm,the discipline norm,the grade norm and etc to investigate the overall level of postgraduate’ data literacy,and the differences of data literacy competency between different levels of graduate students were revealed.At the same time,the sample data were divided into a group with superior grades and a group with generic performances so that the basic and discriminatory competency of data literacy competency could be extracted.Based on the research results above,the author put forward corresponding optimization strategies of data literacy competency education for postgraduates from the levels of universities,libraries and individuals,which is conducive to the expanding of information literacy education in colleges and universities,to improve the level of graduate students’ data literacy,and to promote the quality of personnel training.
