| In the digital age,the impact of big data on the news industry has been growing.The rise and development of data news has become an important measure for the news industry to actively respond to the challenge of big data,and it has also provided new possibilities for the development of the news industry.This dissertation comparatively studies the data journalism practice of different media at home and abroad,to find out their differences,understand the development status of domestic and foreign data news,and provide reference for the future comparative study of data journalism.The dissertation uses the data news produced by the “Data Blog” of the Guardian and the “Digital Reading” section of NetEase as the research object.Through comparative analysis and case studies,the two media are examined in terms of differences of data news production,content,and visualization forms.The purpose is to clearly understand the similarities and differences between the "data blog" and "digital reading" columns in the data journalism practice,compare the differences between the two data journalism practices,summarize the reasons for the differences,and draw conclusions from data journalism.Through comparative analysis and case studies,it is found that the “Data Blog”and “Digital Reading” sections have similarities in the types of data sources,the types of topics selected,and the scope of coverage.There are significant differences,including production volume,professional staffing,data usage and processing,visualization,interaction methods,etc.The reasons are:(1)the openness of the different data environment;(2)different media positioning;(3)the different development of data news;(4)the different data team from the professional staff.The study has also achieved some enlightenments of data news practice:(1)to promote data opening and explore new data sources;(2)to use multiple data sources to produce reports to ensure the credibility of the reports;(3)enrich report topics,focusing on audience needs;(4)to adopt multiple forms of visualization,focusing on the mobile terminal and exploring new technologies;(5)to promote the professional quality of employees and the development of data news. |
