Multi-layer beam-type steel storage rack,with plug-in connector,manifestated truss in horizontal,manifestated semi-rigid frame in vertical.Currently,It is widely used in the field of logistics storage.As a result of its unique cross-section and unique form of the node,so that its design is complex,different from the traditional steel structure.The relevant domestic standards and norms were made earlier,and have not been updated,so that there is little clear and necessary rules in the design of steel storage racks and so on.Meanwhile,there is also no structural analysis software for the design of steel storage racks.All of thses resulted in more and more safety accidents in the field of steel storage racks.Therefore,this paper studies the design criterion of multi-layer beam-type steel storage racks based on effective width method of Chinese cold gauge and direct strength method of North American standard,and develops the corresponding structural analysis software.Firstly,this article studied the effective cross section of multi-crimp column based on the concept of effective width method and ABAQUS numerical simulation to find out whether it is applicable for the effective aspect ratio formula of Chinese standard A variety of shelf columns with different sections were analyzed according to the effective width method of Chinese cold gauge,the direct strength method of North American standard and ABAQUS numerical simulation.A comparative analysis of their stable bearing capacity was made to study the design methods.Then,the structural performance,working load and transmission path of multi-layer beam-type steel storage rack are introduced in this paper.Combined with the current norms and the basis of preliminary study of our research group,the structural analysis methods and component design methods were determined.On this basis,an analysis software of multi-layer beam-type steel storage racks was developed,which used VBA language and based on SAP2000 API.In the case of specific examples,this article used finite element analysis software ANSYS for comparative analysis,verifying the convenience ang high efficiency of the software operation and the rationality of the results.Finally,the software is used to study the mechanical properties of multi-layer beam-type steel storage racks with different stiffness of beam-column joints and column-foot joints under the earthquake conditions.Then,summarizing the regular patterns and getting the beam and column cross-section selection in case of the commonly used size and load,in order to give guidance to engineering examples.Based the reserches above,several main conclusions are obtained as follows:(1)The multi-crimp column is applicable for the formula of the effective aspect ratio of the Chinese standard.If the plate with the largest width in the section can satisfy b/t≤36,it can ensure that the section has the full cross section,Ae=A.The common cross section of the steel storage racks is capable of satisfying the condition(2)Compared with the finite element method,it is suggested that the Chinese standard should be used to design the multi-crimp column when the column length is small.But the North American standard is recommended when the column length is large.(3)An analysis software of multi-layer beam-type steel storage racks,based on SAP2000 API,was developed with the use of VBA language.In the case of specific examples,there a little difference between the results calculated by this software and the results of ANSYS finite element analysis.This means that the results calculated by this software are more reasonable.What’s more,the entire analysis and design work is simple,convenient and efficient while using this software.(4)The stiffness of beam-column joints and column-foot joints have a significant impact on the capacity of the column and beam.The increase of the stiffness of the two joints can both improve the lateral resistance of the structure and the former has better effect than the latter.And the appropriate stiffness of beam-column joint and column-foot joint are given.(5)In case of the commonly used size and load,the structure is more sensitive to the strength limit,deformation tolerance is easier to meet.The cross-section selection of beam is controlled by strength,and the cross-section selection of column is mostly controlled by strength.The cross-section selection of column is more difficult to meet the selection criterias than that of beam.
