With the rapid development of China's financial markets for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), commercial banks are attaching increasing importance to the exploration and research on the credit rating of small and medium-sized customers. In other countries, the credit rating Index system of small and medium-sized customers has matured gradually and is widely used in the daily credit businesses of commercial banks. Theoretical studies in this area have also received attention from foreign academia, which have led to fruitful achievements. However, currently there is no unified credit rating index system of small and medium-sized customers in China. Most commercial banks, failing to build an appropriate credit rating system based on the actual business situations of SMEs, still adopt the credit rating indicators for large and medium-sized customers. Therefore, based on the deficiency analysis of the credit rating index system of small and medium-sized customers, as well as the rating status quo of small and medium-sized customers of D bank in Fujian province, the paper put forward an idea of optimizing the credit rating index system of small and medium-sized customers to scientifically and accurately reflect the credit status of SMEs in China. The paper, adopting the combination of normative research and case analysis, firstly made an introduction to the background, significance, methodology and innovative potential of the topic; Secondly, it reorganized and commented on the relative theories and literatures of customers credit rating, laying a theoretical foundation for the following case studies; Thirdly, the paper described the implementation status quo of the credit rating index system of commercial banks' small and medium-sized customers in China, based on which it made an analysis of the problems in the current credit rating index system as well as the necessity of improvement of the system; Fourthly, taking into consideration the development trend of current financial markets for SMEs, the paper analyzed the status quo of the credit rating index system of D bank's small and medium-sized customers in Fujian Province, and put forward specific improvement plans on two dimensions of general small and medium-sized customers and small and micro customers. Fifthly, the paper further verified the application and effects of improvement plans through case analysis and comparative analysis of credit rating index system of small and medium-sized customer before and after optimization. The main contributions of this research include:1. According to the characteristics of C, this paper analyzes the problems in the current credit rating index system from the fields of the rating object, indicators setting and the weight distribution, then On the basis of analyzing the credit rating index system of D bank's small and medium-sized customers in Fujian, it optimized the credit rating index system in two dimensions of general small and medium-sized customers and small and micro customers, which made the credit rating process of small and medium-sized customers more reasonable.2. Through comparative analysis of credit rating index system of small and medium-sized customer before and after optimization. it is found by the paper that the rating efficiency and accuracy of small and medium-sized customers were improved, and the needs of SMEs financing were met,by subdividing the rating object, reducing financial index evaluation, giving full play to the non-financial information for SMEs credit reduction?Through the theoretical analyses and case studies, the paper argued that: optimizing the credit rating index system of small and medium-sized customers from the perspective of professionalization would play a significant role in guiding and promoting commercial banks in their development of SMEs financial services, which will not only improve the efficiency of customer ratings and enhance the financing experience of small and medium-sized customers, but also propel the rating index system of small and medium-sized customers to continuously develop toward professional and scientific management.
