With the development of global economic integration, continuous progress of science and technology, constantly updating of management ideas, the competition between enterprises becomes more and more fierce, to get more customers' recognition, win the market, make enterprises bigger and stronger, not only high quality products and reliable product but also the lower price and the stable delivery. As one of the most important components of cost, more and more enterprises attach importance to how to keep constant production and customer satisfaction with minimum inventory, after that the enterprises can survive in the fierce competition.MT Tianjin plant was built up in 1997, the sale revenue was increased rapidly since its famous brand, however it must focus on how to reduce inventory, or else it will loss competitiveness.Here I will analysis the inventory status of Tianjin plant and give a solution about how to control the plant inventory.Firstly, introduce the inventory management status and inventory control status, Find out the key issues of Tianjin plant: the first is weak purchasing strategy, then redefine different purchasing strategies for different items; separate the whole kiting parts to several group by lead time, setup safety stock for long lead time items, so that the entire lead time is reduced; The second is the inventory accuracy is low, excess inventory is prepared in order to avoid shortage. The reason is that system works are not done accordingly after the items were delivered/issued/transferred etc. To improve inventory accuracy, RFID is introduced here.At last, vendor management inventory-VMI is mentioned to reduce the non-critical materials in stock.Three solutions are given in this thesis to solve the issues in Tianjin plant: shorten lead time, improve inventory accuracy by implement of RFID & VMI. These can provide kinds of reference for all mechanical assembly plants in range of inventory control.
