Sri Lanka is a developing country for last 65 years after liberating from British colony for last 65 year. Central government use various type of economic strategies to develop the living standard of its communities. But from initial time tourism industry brought considerable level of contribution to decrease foreign exchange deficit in various ways. Geographically, environmentally, and cultural advantages of Sri Lanka were key for tourism development. But country is still having potential opportunities to expand economy by developing tourism industry. Sri Lanka and other Asian mega tourism destination were mainly depending on European and Middle East market. But with the development of People's Republic Chinese economy and some other reasons, Chinese arrivals for Asian destination have increased rapidly. To promote Sri Lanka as popular destination in China, it is essential to consider about what are the reasons that Chinese traveler motivate for outbound travel and what are the consideration Sri Lankan government need to promote Sri Lankan tourism in China. With enriched Chinese population and booming economy, many aspects of the Chinese tourism have largely changed. The amount of Chinese people travelling abroad has increased at a fast pace and is having a toll in the worldwide tourism market. The World tourism Organization (UNWTO) in 1995 expected China to reach 100 million arrivals worldwide by 2020. By the numbers given by the CNTA, number was already exceeded last year. The purpose of this research is to understand why are the Chinese people travelling so much, what has changed? Then what is the repercussions of these travels, is it beneficial for the Chinese people, economy culture? Thus the problem being, if the central government should do something concerning the outbound tourism. By studying closely, the numbers and development of the Chinese outbound tourism I have come to an understanding that the Chinese outbound tourism is not a bad thing, even if the tourism trade deficit is increasing, the benefits of the Chinese people traveling abroad outweigh the negative effects. If the central government were to take action is to protect and teach the travelers while creating incentives to increase the inbound tourism to balance the trade deficit.
