Research On The Influences Of Open Innovation Capability On Operating Performance Under The Moderation Of Openness

Nowadays, open innovation is applied more and more widely in management practices, and its theoretical research is going deeper constantly. But the connotation and measurement of innovative openness and the reconstruction of innovation capability under the open environment have been controversial. At the same time, how the two affect enterprise performance, especially openness' s two-sided influence mechanism is also a current hotspot in the study of the theory. So the study of innovative openness and open innovation capability can help to solve the basic problem in the research and the study of how openness and open innovation capability influence enterprise performance can help enterprises to implement more effective innovation strategies in the open environment. So this paper has important theoretical and realistic significance.This paper analyzes the elements of innovation capability in the open environment, and divides the concept of open innovation capability into three parts, namely internal innovation capability, technology acquisition and diffusion capability, absorption capacity. Based on literature review, this paper analyzes open innovation capability's impact on operating performance; After the concept of openness is combed fully,openness is introduced into the relationship between the two as a regulating variable and its regulating effect is analyzed. Then this paper builds the relationship model between the three, selects the corresponding indicators, collects data of 137 listed companies,and uses multiple hierarchical regression method to verify the influence of open innovation capability on operation performance under the regulation of openness.The empirical results in this paper show that the internal innovation capability has a significant positive influence on financial performance. Absorption capacity, technology acquisition and diffusion capability have no significant impacts on financial performance, the impacts may be indirect.As for enterprises growth, internal innovation capability, technology acquisition and diffusion capability have positive influences which are lagging. Under the regulation of innovation openness, the effect of internal innovation capability on the operation performance is subdued and the effects of absorption capability and technology acquisition and diffusion capability on the operation performance are enhanced.According to these results, this paper divides enterprises into four types based on its internal innovation capability and technology acquisition and diffusion capability, then gives the suggestions of open innovation strategies based on the empirical results and the capabilities of enterprises: The enterprises with weak internal innovation capability and weak technology acquisition and diffusion capability should give priority to internal innovation and focus on the open depth; The enterprises with weak internal innovation capability and strong technology acquisition and diffusion capability can adopt relatively open strategy, and focus resources to enhance the level of internal research; The enterprises with strong internal innovation capability and weak technology acquisition and diffusion capability should adopt relatively conservative strategy, and open gradually; The enterprises with two strong capabilities can be fully open, focus on open breadth rather than depth.
