With technology innovating more and more rapid, technology transdisciplinary applying more and more frequent, current technological environment ever changing, it makes open innovation paradigm changed from closed. In this situation, it is very hard to maintain excellent technological competitive advantage that firms only rely on internal research activities to achieve technological innovation. Firms must change thinking to look for innovative collaboration from the outside as much as possible and access to technology resources and technological innovation ideas to make up for own lack of technical capacity, improve technological innovation efficiency, reduce technological innovation risky and save costs.Patents are one of the most important results of innovation, usually used in technological innovation issues researches. In this paper, using patent data, text mining, bibliometric analysis and set theory as guiding methodology, potential innovation possibility of firms cooperation is discussed based technology correlation and it lays the foundation for in-depth analysis of technological innovation cooperation directions. Firstly, this paper explores technical correlation among firms to identify potential innovation cooperation possibility though analyzing IPC, inventors and cited-references using co-occurrence analysis and set theory. Secondly, for a particular firm, appropriate direction of technological innovation cooperation is determined though creating patent database of potential innovation cooperation firms, extracting problem solving concepts(PSC) from the first claim using text mining to form PSC database, from the database extracting AO structure based on function, and finally building patent map-based PSC-AO based on function to dig innovation cooperation contents among firms. In this paper, OLED and Samsung are research object.By using model of potential technical innovation cooperators identification, IBM, e Magin Corporation and Novaled AG are identified as the most problem potential cooperators. Based on the result, through the process of PSC-AO method based on function, some patents are selected as cooperation direction belonging to IBM, e Magin Corporation and Novaled AG.Technology innovation cooperation analysis oriented firms, not only provides a wider range of potential innovation partner for firms maximizing the control of external cooperation resources, also enriches the idea of technology innovation and promotes efficiency of technology innovation. It also enriches the study of technology innovation cooperation among firms.
