With the development of computer technology and communication technology, great changes have taken place in society. Commercial banks have to take more financial innovation. Under this circumstance, E-bank has been established. As the competition getting more intense, E-bank plays a key role on enhancing competitiveness. However, how about the efficiency of electronic banking business at present stage, and can enhance of the efficiency of electronic banking business improve commercial banks operation performance. There is no answer yet. The modern E-bank has been set up in 1990s, there were only a few researches on E-bank. In China, there were some scholars start to do some research about efficiency of electronic banking business, because of the lack of data, the result was not well. There is no study on how the efficiency of electronic banking business influences commercial banks operation performance. This paper is about the relationship between the efficiency of electronic banking and commercial banks operation performance based the former research. This paper is divided into eight parts. The first part is preface. On this part, the paper mainly says the study background, significance of the topic, ideas and structures of the paper. The main search methods are theoretical analysis and empirical analysis. Then paper summarizes the relevant theory and literature. The second part is methods of commercial banks operation performance overview. To find the best method, this paper Analyze advantages and disadvantages of every method. Then choose Factor Analysis to evaluate commercial banks operation performance. The third part is E-bank overview. Firstly, based on previous studies, cleared the definition and classification of E-bank. Secondly, E-bank development background and current situation are introduced. At last, the theory of customer loyalty and the theory of financial innovation are used to analyze the influence that efficiency of electronic banking do to performance of commercial banks. So this part is about how the electronic banking business enhances the performance of commercial banks theoretically. The forth part is the introduction of DEA model. This part introduces the BCC model and Super-Efficiency model. The reason why the Super-Efficiency model has been chosen to evaluate the efficiency of electronic banking business was been explained. The fifth part is empirical research of the commercial bank performance. After the selection of index and sample, the performance indicators of 8 commercial banks were analyzed by descriptive statistics. Then the Factor Analysis is used to evaluate commercial banks performance and to rank the 8 banks. The sixth part is the empirical research of electronic banking. The BCC model and Super-Efficiency model are used to calculate the efficiency of electronic banking. This paper assumes that the ratio of annual spending on E-bank to commercial bank operating cost. Therefore, the net value of fixed assets stands for the investment on E-bank's hardware devices. Operating costs stand for the investment on E-bank's marketing and human resource. The quantity of E-bank users stands for E-bank's scale. Then Super-Efficiency model is used to calculate electronic banking efficiency of 8 sample banks. The seventh part is panel data regressive analysis about performance of commercial banks and efficiency of electronic banking. The result shows that efficiency of electronic banking is significantly positively correlated with performance of 8 sample banks. Then the 8 banks were divided into two groups. The result shows that efficiency of electronic banking of state-controlled banks is more significantly positively correlated with performance than national joint-stock banks. The eighth part is conclusion and suggestion. This paper have two main conclusions:the first one is that efficiency of electronic banking of state-controlled banks is not as high as national joint-stock banks'. The second one is that efficiency of electronic banking is significantly positively correlated with performance of commercial banks. And four advices are offered to raise efficiency of electronic banking. The innovation of this paper is that DEA model is used to calculate the efficiency of electronic banking with more reasonable index and the latest data. In the meantime, it's the first time that a paper does research on correlation of electronic banking efficiency and banks performance. The shortage of this paper is that the sample included only 8 banks because there just 8 banks published their E-bank data.
