Study Of Development Of Walnut Industry In Pu County

As one of the China’s major walnut producers with long cultivation history, Shanxi Province is equipped with the natural conditions, economic conditions, social conditions, the existing production scale, and industrial development that are suitable for growing walnuts. Due to the improvement of living standards and people’s growing understanding of the walnut’economic value, walnuts are very popular in the national market, with increasing demand and prices. Since the reform and opening up, China’s rural economic system and structure has changed dramatically, and there are many problems and difficulties in terms of system, technology, policy and other aspects in the traditional agricultural technology department, where walnut industry is no exception.In recent years, Pu County puts more efforts to develop the walnut industry. After a period of large-scale cultivation, as well as promotion by the corresponding industry, walnut cultivation in Pu County has a certain scale. Walnut planting area is more than 15,000 acres in 2015, but the overall benefits and quality of walnuts are not high. this paper was based on survey data from 2011 to 2015, to make an investigation of walnut industry in Pu County. It introduced development of walnut industry in Pu County from five aspects including natural resources, walnut cultivation, walnut processing, walnut brand building, and walnut benefits. Through understanding of the current situation of walnut industry, it summed up problems of its walnut industry in terms of organization, technology, market, policy, and elaborated corresponding production strategies so as to provide theoretical and technical support for the development of walnut industry in Pu County, considering its actual situation. Under this circumstance, this paper mainly made the research on development of the walnut industry in Pu County.
