Shaximiao Formation in Eastern Slope of western Sichuan depression is abundant in natural gas and has great potentials for oil prospecting. As the unceasingly deepening of exploration and development, conventional veracity of structure elucidation can no longer meet the requirements of further delicate exploration. This essay, based on 3D seismic, well logging and core materials, emphasises means of well-seismic calibrating and launches structure elucidation on 3D seismic database, which will later be analysed about the effects that structures bring to the hydrocarbon accumulation.Upon research in this essay, after tracing and identifying specific sandy layers and faults in the target formation by 3D seismic mean,I consider both combination of conventional seismic section and curvature attribute and integration of plane and profile can significantly improve the accuracy and efficiency of fault interpretation.According to the results from 3D seismic fault interpretation, six kinds of faults have been concluded:1)y-shaped fault;2)reversal y-shaped fault;3)x-shaped fault;4)ramp fault;5)fault-bending anticline and 6)imbricate fault.Considering the differences between the various fault structures, the target region has been further subdivided into Middle-western Longquanshan Fault,Zhixinchang Fault,Hexinchang Fault and Eastern interlayer faults, respectively.Core materials indicate detailed fractural growth characteristics of Shaximiao Formation, concluding that density of fractures is dominated by structural deformation. Also, fractures can consequently improve properties and channels of hydrocarbon migration of tight sand bodies.By utilising 3D seismic Ant-Trace Technology, based on proper attributes, distribution of fractures can be predicted effectively. Therefore, combining characteristics of faults and distribution of sand bodies, which defines dynamic and static relationship between the deployment of fault and sand and their effects on hydrocarbon accumulation, can do help to exploration and evaluation of natural gas resources in Eastern Slope of western Sichuan depression.
