In order to achieve the purpose of deep acidification, thickening acid by adding the thickening agent to increase the viscosity of the acid. To obtain a high thickening ability of acid thickening agent, this paper designed and synthesized a hydrophobic monomer VIM-16. Then, the bipolymer was synthesized using 1-vinylimidazole and methacryloxyethyltrimethyl ammonium chloride(DMC) by solution polymerization. The bipolymer named PDV-16 is used as acid thickener.The reaction of hydrophobic monomers(VIM-16) was employed to bromohexadecane and 1-vinylimidazole. To yield as standard The single factor experiment obtains the synthesis optimum condition is:acetone was taken as dissolvent, the rato of solute to solvent is 1g:3g, n(BH):n(VIM)=1.2:1.0, the reaction temperature 47?, the reaction continues 12h. The structure of VIM-16 was characterized by fourier transform IR and 1HNMR.To viscosity as standard the single factor experiment obtains the synthesis optimum condition is:the amount of initiator 0.08%(m(V50):m((NH4)2S2O8):m(NaHSO3)=7:2:1), the reaction temperature 50?, the amount of VIM-16 0.4%, the amount of EDTA-4Na 0.015%, the amount of monomers 45%, the polymerization reaction continues 6h, pH 7. The structure of PDV-16 was characterized by fourier transform IR and 1HNMR.In accordance with industry standards for thickener PDV-16 performance was evaluated in the acid. By experiment the synthetic thickener PDV-16 can be dissolved in 80 minutes. The viscosity of the 20% hydrochloric acid can be up to 54 mPa·s (170s-1) when the amount of PDV-16 is 0.8%. At 60,90? the thermal stability of viscosity was 91.67%,75.00%. At room temperature the viscosity shear stability was maintained at 86.11%. Compared with blank acid, at 30,60,90? the thickening acid slow rate reached 52.14%,43.33%,39.39%. Meanwhile, the thickener PDV-16, PADV, PDMC were researched on synchronization, the results showed that PDV-16 has good thermal stability, themal dilution and shear stability.Thickening acid PDV-16 has good compatibility. PDV-16 with a variety of acid additives 24h at 90? constant temperature without precipitation or stratification. Determine the formula for thickening acid is:20% hydrochloric acid+0.8% PDV-16+2.0% corrosion inhibitor WD-11+1.0% ferric ion stabilizer WD-8+0.5% cleanup agent WD-12+1.0% clay stabilizer WD-5.
