Ultrasonic nondestructive testing has the characteristics of non-destructive and quick speed, extensive application and easy to implement online test, which attracts the close attention in many fields. Metallic material is widely used in aviation, medical treatment, atomic energy, mechanical manufacturing and other important fields, but the inferior or imitation metallic materials are often flowed into market, and the phenomenon has gained extensive attention. Therefore, ultrasonic technology may be used for the anti-counterfeiting and identification of metallic material, precious metallic relic and military equipment, which has an important applied background.According to the engineering background of a project of the General Equipment Department, ultrasonic technology is applied to the anti-counterfeiting and identification of metallic material in this paper. Taking 402 stainless steel,304 stainless steel, aluminum alloy 2A13, 1Crl7Ni2,2Crl3,3Crl3 for examples, and there are different heat treatment temperature to 1Crl7Ni2,2Crl3,3Crl3. By the analytical method of time domain and frequency domain of ultrasonic signal, the effects of heat treatment temperature of metallic materials on ultrasonic attenuation coefficient are studied, and the effects of microstructure characteristics of metallic material on ultrasonic attenuation coefficient are analyzed, and the characteristics of echo waveform of metallic material with different ingredients, similar ingredients or same ingredients but different heat treatment temperature are discussed. The velocity, ultrasonic attenuation coefficients, the relative attenuation coefficient and the ultrasonic attenuation spectrum are calculated. The expression of ultrasonic attenuation spectrum and relative attenuation coefficient is proposed on the basis of the theory of ultrasonic attenuation coefficient. The influences of ultrasonic reflection and ultrasonic transmission at the interfaces of a metallic material are considered, and the traditional test sample is changed into a stepped one. Thus the expression of ultrasonic attenuation coefficient of metallic material is derived strictly, and the precise ultrasonic attenuation coefficient of the material is available. The results show that the metallic material with different ingredients or similar ingredients can be directly identified, and the metallic material with same ingredients but different heat treatment temperature can be indirectly identified. In addition, the ultrasonic attenuation spectrum and the relative attenuation coefficient is closely related to the microstructure of metallic material, and it contains the characteristic information of metallic material, and there are obvious differences among all kinds of metallic material. The ultrasonic attenuation spectrum or the relative attenuation coefficient is set as anti-counterfeiting information of metallic material, all kinds of metallic material can be directly identified, and there are good experimental results. On the basis, the software of the anti-counterfeiting and identification of metallic material is designed, and the system of anti-counterfeiting and identification has been set up. Therefore, the anti-counterfeiting and identification of metallic material is realized through the friendly operation of software, especially, it provides a certain reference for anti-counterfeiting or identification of precious metals, metallic relics and so on.
