Down fiber is a kind of natural protein fiber,It is light,soft and has good heat preservation performance than the other natural fiber,so often used as filling materials of the thermal material,the flame retardant modification has not only increase the added value of down products,ensure people and property and personal safety,to provide protection for high-risk industries and population,and Keep it is good heat preservation performance.This paper aims to improve the flame retardant property of Down fiber by grafted with flame-retardant.Down fiber before and after modification was analyzed by FTIR,Flame retardant effect of modified down fiber by the limit oxygen index(LOI),char yield and thermal analysis.The test of modified down fiber by electron microscope analysis(SEM),heat preserve tester,Feather volume meter,Feather turbidity metertreated.First,down fiber was treated with melamine and phosphoric acid flame-retardant synergistic systems,The results showed that the grafting extent of melamine is reaction time 5h,reaction temperature is 80?,the pH value is 2.5,the melamine content is 2.5g,the oxygen index increased to 28.5%from 23%.The phosphorus content of the modified down fiber was increased to 6.55350g/L from 6.19492g/L.The thermal stability is reduced,and the char yield increased to 28.27%from 25.29%at 805?.The filling power and transparency accordance with the national standard requirements.High thermal insulation performance of down fiber is still retained.Second,down fiber was grafted by potassium zirconium fluoride and organic acid.The results showed that the grafting extent of potassium zirconium fluoride is reaction time 4h,reaction temperature is 70?,the pH value is 2.5,add the amount of potassium zirconium fluoride for 0.4g,the oxygen index increased to 36.5%from 23%.The thermal stability is reduced,and the char yield increased to 28.65%from 25.29%at 805?.The filling power and transparency accordance with the national standard requirements and improved the heat preservation rate.
