In recent years,fllowing the industrial equipment was becoming larger and thick plates was used in large components widely,the application of thick plate welding was more and more widely.The narrow gap also found a vital way because it showed the advantages of high efficiency,low cost and little deformation in the thick plate welding.Vertical welding as an important part of the narrow gap welding.In the process of vertical welding,the problem of poor weld easy to appear when without properly selected process parameters.Analysising the characteristic of the welding signal is the important preparation of deviation extraction and seam tracking.In this paper,vertical welding as the research object,the influence of process parameters on forming on the surface and sensing characteristic was used to the collected welding signal are studied.Firstly,in order to receive the good quality vertical welding joint,this paper has studied the process parameters,such as the wire feed speed,the swing speed,the weld speed,wall residence time and torch angle,on weld formation during vertical gap welding.The result shows that the change of process parameters can seriously impact the surface forming,and researched the reasons of the lack of fusion defects and the groove on both sides of the rectangular area and came up with the solutions.Then,through the analysis of the welding arc sensing characteristics of sensor signals,we knowed that if want to realize the seam tracking control,we must be extracted the characteristic signal which can accurately reflect the height change of the welding torch from the welding sensor signal.Based on the research of welding arc sensing characteristics of sensor signals,this paper extracted the base average current signal as the characteristic signal to reflect the change of welding torch height.Finally,the collected welding arc signal would suffer seriously affected because the disturbs which come from a variety of factors.In order to get accurate information of the weld deviation,we must conduct signal filtering noise reduction processing to improve its quality.This paper proposed a new composite filtering method to processing peak point current signal and simulated in MATLAB.And,through experiment verify the feasibility of the filter method.
