Although carbon nanotubes have many excellent properties, the reunion phenomenon happens when it is added into the polymer matrix as a filler, which affects the performance of the composite material, thus the modification to improve its dispersion is particularly important.Cyclodextrin has a specialmolecular structure;they are conical with a slightly cylindrical structure,;due to the unique"hydrophilic, hydrophobic"properties of cyclodextrins, which hold the pivotal status in supramolecular chemistry and have been widely used in chemical industry, daily chemical, agricultural, environmental protection material, medicine, industry and other fields.Based on the above information, with the purpose of preparing the material which was equipped with the excellent properties of carbon nanotubes and Cyclodextrin,we designed a novel multi-walled carbon nanotube/cyclodextrin material, and studied the application of MWCNTs/B-CD for the removals of Cr(VI)and phenol from aqueous solution, the dispersion of carbon nanotubes in epoxy resin and solvents,as well as investigated the controlled release properties of corrosion inhibitor molecules.Specific work was as follows:B-cyclodextrins was first grafted onto the surface of multi-walled carbon nanotubes through a new, simple and facile route. Then it was developed for the removal of contaminants from aqueous solutions, and the release behavior of corrosion inhibitor(benzimidazole)in epoxy resin composites materialwas studied under the external corrosion environment stimulation. The morphology and structure of MWCNTs/B-CD were characterized by scanning electron microscope(SEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD),Brunauer-Emmett-Teller(BET)analyses.The products were confirmed by Fouriertransform infrared spectrum(FTIR),Nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR),Thermo-gravimetric analysis(TG).The resulted showed that the carbon nanotubes modified by B-cyclodextrins could be evenly dispersed in some organic solvents and epoxy resin;the addition of modified carbon nanotubes could improve the corrosion resistance of composite coating;MWCNTs/B-CD could be used as a novel adsorbent for the removal of contaminants;EIS was used to monitor the release process of object inhibitor under external corrosion environment, the unusual phenomenon was observed in the experiment, which was attributed to the release of active components in the smart anticorrosion coating(inhibitor);the scratch test provided a more intuitive proof that the release of corrosion inhibitor could improve the protective effect of composite coatings on metal.
